Physical Description | Kamar stands at a physically imposing height, though even a lifetime working in the mining sector has not added significant muscle mass to his thin frame. His face is somewhat gaunt with thin lips and an inconspicuous chin. While lively, his eyes are often buttressed by dark puffy circles from long office hours and the stresses of working for a still largely uncoordinated Cardassian government.

Personality & Traits
General Overview | Kamar’s gregariousness, egalitarian and larger-than-life personality made him popular with the lower-class Cardassians that generally worked under his supervision, but the sociable surface of his personality hides a shrewd and meticulous mind. His management style was autocratic but permissive for the majority of his time working under the Cardassian military’s Logistics & Supply Command; however, with changes in the structure of the Cardassian military and government, he has begun exploring more democratic forms of management alongside his Federation counterparts on Lyshan III by seeking advice and collaborating with his subordinates. Nevertheless, he remains a slave to the bureaucratic system he's served his entire life and often finds himself (sometimes even to his own frustration) caught up in a pedantic concern for rules and procedures.

Ambitions | Kamar's ambitions have turned increasingly political since the conclusion of the Dominion War, and some close to him have suggested that he has his eye on a ministerial position for labor or resources.
Hobbies & Interests | Kamar is an avid consumer of academic material related to resource extraction, mining and planetary sciences. He works tirelessly for workers rights with the labor committees of the Detapa Council. Outside of work, Kamar is the consummate family man and enjoys spending time with his wife and Aavok, his youngest son and only child with his parents on Lyshan III. As with many Cardassians, Kamar has limited exposure and interest in the arts and other creative endeavors; however, he does enjoy sporting games, gambling and geology.

Personal History | Kamar Trisad was born in the Okaba Region on Cardassia Prime. By birthright a member of the bureaucratic middle-class amarlek caste in Cardassia’s highly structured society, Kamar spent his early life in relative comfort. His parents dutifully served the state as civilians bureaucrats, neither achieving high glory nor accumulating dishonor. As part of the Cardassian education system, his aptitude for leadership and the sciences was identified during primary school. The remainder of his education was conducted at the Advanced School for Planetary Sciences; after graduation, he elected to specialize further and attended the Advanced School for Mining Engineering. Following graduation, Kamar served his two years of mandatory military service aboard a Galor-class warship as a science officer. The vessel spent the entire two-year mission patroling the Union’s borders away from Federation space, which meant little combat action for Kamar. For the overwhelming majority of Kamar’s life, the Cardassian Union was effectively controlled by the Central Command and operated as a military state. His service in the mining industry was technically carried out as a civilian, although he reported to superiors in the Logistics & Supply Command of the Cardassian military. Kamar’s initial appointment was as a mine engineer at the Lazon II labor camp deep in Cardassian space; its remote location and lack of value as a strategic asset made it something of a trial run for his abilities in the field. Despite his reservations over the operation of the Lazon II camp (reservations that were never publicly shared), Kamar impressed his superiors with increases in efficiency in the mining operation without significant changes in mine safety. His performance earned a promotion to the uridium mines on Soukara Prime where he spent the next ten years working his way up to mine supervisor. It was on Soukara Prime that he refined his management style, fostering a close and loyal bond with his fellow miners while at the same time creating enough distance to maintain absolute control. While serving on Soukara, Kamar met and married his wife, who was serving as a botanist researching medicinal plants in the planet’s thick jungles. Their first two children, Siani and Eket, were born on the planet. Appalled by working conditions and unrealistic demands for increased production, Kamar began flirting with the idea of organized mining labor in the late 2360s that brought him into contact with members of the nascent Cardassian underground movement. As one of the foremost uridium mining facilities in the Cardassian Union Soukara Prime was under significant surveillance from the Obsidian Order, which served as an effective enough deterrent to prevent him from joining the underground. The outbreak of the Dominion War saw Kamar promoted to mine supervisor of the Soukara Prime facility; he had been identified out of a number of candidates as being the most likely to suppress the labor resistance anticipated from the high demands of Central Command. Kamar clashed frequently with his Cardassian and Dominion superiors during his tenure of the uridium mine as labor conditions degenerated into near slave-like conditions to meet production quotas; rather than deepen his concerns over the underground movement, the clashes served to push Kamar into an unofficial association with the dissidents. Given the critical need for uridium in Cardassian ship construction, the Soukara Prime facility played a key role in the struggle between Central Command and the underground resistance. Kamar managed to skillfully balance his commitments without arousing the suspicions of Central Command or the Dominion enough to get himself or his family killed. He frequently turned a blind-eye to the theft of supplies, covertly directed mine security personnel to release dissidents or redirect patrols, and evacuated mine personnel from areas targeted for acts of terrorism to avoid loss of life. After the conclusion of the war and the change in leadership, Kamar openly joined Dr. Natima Lang’s Democratist movement that pushed for democracy and civilian rule. He acquired enough political currency to secure the position of drill and blasting superintendent for new uridium mines on Rondac III, which had been devastated during the war. Over the next two years, he became an increasingly recognized advocate for labor rights; after being promoted to mining operations manager of the new Ravok Nor Ore Processing Station in orbit of Rondac III, he was also asked to serve as an advisor to the Detapa Council on labor matters. His credentials and connection to the new Cardassian leadership made him a prime candidate for mine supervisor of the new Lyshan III joint-venture between Cardassia and the Federation. |
