Physical Description		Soft spoken, shy in nature and difficult to define, Kenyal is an attractive and youthful looking individual who stands just above average height and maintains a slim body tone. His features are shaped and clear, bright against his dark hair. Sunlight tends to disagree with Bal, he has a very light and sensitive complexion. His nose is crested with Bajoran ridges, which reveal his biological history. Bal shrugged off his Bajoran roots at a young age, considering himself more human. He remained peacefully ignorant of his birthplace or a long time. He has been unquestioning in the care delivered by his adoptive parents and has never shown an interest in his home planet. He does not adhere to Bajoran religious mantra and was, in fact, raised as a Catholic. He also has very limited contact with the remainder of his biological family. General Overview		Bal has a quite, amiable nature. He swings from prissiness to gentle confidence on a regular basis but is generally approachable and welcoming. A devotion to his work is always present, as is a strong moral centre. He is a generally likable figure, although he has a habit of distancing himself personally from his peers aboard the Galileo
Strengths		A solid researcher and geneticist, with an academic history and biology, which lends itself to his inquisitive nature. Kenyal is more than capable and very specific when it comes to his work, often providing ideal results. He clearly enjoys what he does and takes care in his presentation.
Weaknesses		As a former captain with Starfleet, he seems to exude an air of discomfort given his new billet as a civilian aboard a working starship. It is apparent that he has the potential to take charge but that he subdues this, making him seem detached from his colleagues and somewhat disconnected from the team effort as a whole.
Ambitions		As a self-titled explorer Bal's mission is simply to learn. He craves intellectual stimulation, aches for new discovery and hopes to gain wisdom from his time with Starfleet.

Personal History		Kenyal fled Bajor as a young child and was taken on by foster parents on Earth, who adopted him some years later. He has always adopted his human side and, although he is very much aware of his people's history and their cultural choices, he remains independent from most Bajorans. He studied at University before joining Starfleet, earning a bachelors degree in exobiology from the University of Triaath.
Starfleet History		A latecomer to the Academy, Kenyal picked up a masters degree in genetics and graduated as a Starfleet officer at the end of his studies, once he had successfully completed his military training. He was a solid line officer but worked better in controlled conditions rather than on impulse from the bridge. After years of meandering through ranks and positions, he moved into a research post at a starbase facility, where he stumbled across the solution to the KG gene code problem. With promotion, he was offered command of a starship. He took command of the USS Voltaire for just over a year before making the rather extreme decision to retire in early 2388, finding himself reuniting with his biological brother for a year before seeking science work. The Federation assigned him to the USS Galileo as a biologist within the science team.
