Hello all and happy Monday!

Yes, I am back from a little hiatus, recharged and caught up with all the things. Congrats of not blowing the ships up!

It’s time for those personal logs, as the deadline is tomorrow. Yes, my knuckle-counting has always been a little confused that April has 30 days yet is on a low bit, but who am I to argue with the generation-tested method of knowing if it is a “long” or a “short” month.

So grab your beverage of choice, sit down and type out those reaction, thoughts, adventures or misadventures of the crew of one of the Galileos.

And what a month this April has been! We have seen the devastation of the Battle of Sector 189, the twists and turns of The Path Not Taken, the hint of a tear-in-the-eye (if you didn’t tear up knowing what would happen later, your heart is stone) of Old friends and new family to name a few! And yes, I say name a few because we have had a lot of posts. There’s been a lot of hard work from people and as always, it is amazing.

Since I know everyone will be getting those logs out, I’ll skip the Auntie Anne section and instead bring in this little recipe, hopefully fitting for a certain Nekomi on the ship:

Nekomi Milk Pudding

This is an adapted recipe, as the replicator hasn’t quite gotten the hang of any Nekomi ingredients. Hopefully this will show up in the mess without a few days, once I’ve managed to get all the pots and pans…de-holed? We’re still suffering a little between Ferengi visiting, Klingon dinner parties and, oh, time travel! - Nesh Saalm.

Ingredients:

500ml (about 2 cups) milk
100 grams (1/2 cups) caster sugar
4 tablespoons cornflour (and 2 tablespoons of water to mix with it!)
¼ teaspoons vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon concentrated rose water OR ¼ teaspoons orange blossom water
15 grams pistachios, dried rose petals optional

Start with a saucepan, on the hob, heat the sugar and milk on low, stirring. Because suddenly, milk gets excited, burned or just hates you, so keep an eye on it!

Just before it boils (it will be warm, maybe tiny bubbles here and there), add the cornflour/water mixture. Cook it, stirring constantly, as it thickens. It’s like magic!

When it is really thick, remove it from the heat and add in the vanilla and whichever of the nice-smelling flavours you picked. Stir it through and then pour the mixture into individual small bowls, glasses, whatever you have on hand.

When cooled, put in the fridge for at least 3 hours. Patience is a virtue!

When ready to serve, put those shelled, crushed pistachios and, if using, rose petals over the pudding and serve.

And that’s it for this month!

Live long and prosper,
Anne
