Weekly Update

Posted on 05 Dec 2023 @ 7:49pm by Lieutenant Aria Rice

Hi all,

Another week and wow, what a week it has been so far! We closed off November, ended episode 18 and we all have a lot of mission posts going on. And oh, it’s December! Time flies.

Personal logs were extremely juicy this month too, so bravo to all! We had:

Part three of the nail-biter epic that is “Fargo”! What will Ghemora and Turok uncover? Will Lugo’s repair crew manage to do repairing? Where will this all go? I don’t know about you, but I am biting my nails here.

Warraquim’s admission of some space-bending technology of her people! Space. Bending! But is it 20 years too late to help Admiral Saalm? Well, to be honest, better late than never, right?

Stark and Vansen finally got together! I know I’d pop the champagne too, because it seems like the stars were against them for a bit there…I for one will be popping the champagne on this romance.

Mimi’s hopes and dreams for the future, that perhaps some of her people are serving in Starfleet. I believe it is very likely! And imagine, a ship full of Mimi’s!

That there’s not a hole deep enough to put Viruk’s body in…seriously, how dare he?! I am outraged! No one speaks to Sera that way and walks away intact if you ask me…

Rh’vaurekorn may have a paper obsession. In fact, he might be responsible for the deforestation of some tiny Romulan colony at this point! I bet he is one of those people who smells books. Also, can we invest in a measuring tape for him so he can keep a proper distance before he freezes something?

Tarin, like many others, is struggling with balancing the moral dilemma she is in. But at least she has her best minds on the problem! She has a big decision to make and time is, ironically, running out…

And a blast from the past (or future) is Goldie! And it’s good to see someone looking at their past mistakes and seeing them more as tools of learning rather than let them beat them down.

Which…leads us to our next personal log. Rafe! That man has a mission to complete! Did him copying the data change the timeline, or was it all just a coincidence? A spot of bad luck. And just as importantly, can it ever be traced to him? Sounds like he has a bit of a trek in front of him…and isn’t that just exciting?

And to finish off this week’s update, we are joined by Oliver Sylver, who will be the first to say that he isn’t exactly going to become the next chef de cuisine on the ship…

Sylver’s Potato Dumplings. And yes, it is a side dish

I can’t believe I was talked into doing this. Replicators exist for a reason. Okay, growing up, I didn’t exactly have the nuclear family most expect. But there was a cook at the home I was in who would make these potato dumplings and serve with everything. I mean, everything. Fish. Meat. Vegetable stew. Breakfast. Potato dumplings.

He always started with 1 litre stock on hand. The type didn’t matter apparently. Also, 750 grams raw potatoes, 300 grams boiled potatoes, 300ml barley flour, 2 tablespoons plain flour and 1 teaspoon salt.

He'd get the stock up to boil in a large pot. Then he’d peel the raw potatoes and grate them. Or more, get whoever walked past the kitchen to grate them, because apparently life was too short. We’d then squeeze some of the liquid out. Yeah. Real potatoes have liquid, who would have thought.

The boiled potatoes would get mashed. Then everything would get mixed together into a dough. He’d make the dumplings with a spoon and drop them in the broth and simmer for 30 to 40 minutes. He’d always cut one to check if they were done.

Anyway. That’s it. Try it if you want.

And that is it for this week! Thank you all.

Anne
