From : Lieutenant Commander Jonathan Holliday, XO, USS Galileo

Madam,

I write to you in the most dire of circumstances, with a heavy heart and a broken spirit. I had only served with your partner for a short time, but I felt that I should be the one to write this message, as I was with him when he passed on.

Lieutenant Commander Remington was one of the finest officers that I have ever had the pleasure to serve with during my Starfleet career. From the first moment I met him during the Galileo's prelaunch preparations, I knew that here was a man I could depend on to keep our ship running through even the worst of situations.

Although I can do nothing to remove the burden of your loss, I feel that I owe it to his memory to at least let you know of the sacrifice he made to save those he served with.
His actions meant that not only did he save my own life, but the lives of countless crewmembers on board the Galileo, and led in no small part to the successful completion of our mission.

I have no right to try and understand your situation, but I know that Commander Remington would not have thought twice about repeating the course of action he took in protecting our vessel, no matter what the cost.

I am proud to have served with him, and to have been one of his commanding officers. I only hope that in the weeks and years to come, that I am able in some way to devote my time aboard this ship to finding a way to do justice to the great gift he gave to us all.

The crew and I are well aware that nothing we could say to you right now could do anything to alleviate the pain that you are suffering, but I promise you, on my oath as a Starfleet officer, that nobody serving aboard Galileo, present or future, will forget the sacrifice of Chauncey Remington.

Yours sincerely,

Jonathan E. Holliday
