Thanis: Welcome to the Galileo Impulse. I'm your host, Thanis Rothgra.

Nesh: *clearing throat* And I'm Nesh. Saalm!

Thanis: Keeping our ears to the ground and our sensors on full. This month, we're doing a little house-cleaning, so we wanted to give you a tour of the framework of the Impulse. We know it's hard sometimes for all you players/writers/puppeteers/readers to keep up with everything that's going on aboard the Galileo, so we've undertaken a means of keeping you up to date.

If there is something you (or your characters) would like to talk about, we're accepting article submissions for the first part of the newsletter. Alien languages, why Trills have dermaglyphs, what colors are in for Vulcans this spring, what the hell is up with the Klingon Empire these days - anything you can think of that's Trek or Galileo related - just send it in and it'll be considered.

Nesh: So, this means that you guys better tune in, if you don't want to be, like, left in the dust! The next thing we're doing is, like, a synopsis, of all that's happened in the main plot since the last time you tuned in! Or, since the beginning of the mission, really, since this is the first edition... oh, and -

Thanis: - character developments of the characters on board as well as their various subplots and... all that. And we'll also get you a rundown on all the new crewmembers that have joined us since last time.

Nesh: Yep. And, we'll come up with some cool guesses as to what's happening in the future, and what you might expect plotwise. So that's basically it, for the boring part.

Thanis: Okay! So. Onto-

Nesh: The fun part! Gossi- *ahem* ah, a nice, chronological list, of all the scenes and posts which have happened on the Galileo over the latest mission..

Thanis: *bows* Thank you, thank you. I am OCD and proud to be.

Nesh: *eyeroll* Definitely. So, basically, you can follow along from the first until the last post all the way through, or, you can just look on any given mission day. *smile*

Thanis: By the way, just as a reminder, remember you can contact me (or call Lilou Peers and you'll get to me in Engineering) if you want to know what's going on in a place you're heading to. Just drop a line asking - for example - 'anyone having a throw down in the mess hall that I might observe while eating my lunch?' And I'll get back to you.

Nesh: Boys.

Thanis: What. I'm a crewman apprentice. What else do you think I do with my day?

===Music Cue!===

Thanis: Right, okay. So here's what's happened since the first official day of Galileo's third mission:

Morning of MD01, the senior staff had their briefing with Captain Sutherland of the USS Venture and Captain Saalm.

The basics as I've gotten them from Chief Peers: it's the Galileo's job to do a quick survey of the newly discovered Rojar system. And by quick, I mean, like, warp speed. Just a few weeks. Everybody on board already knows all this, but I'm trying to be thorough. There's a couple moons that might be habitable by humanoids -

Nesh: Did you hear that? Aliens. How coool is that?!

Thanis: - but so far we don't have any evidence that there are any down there. There's also a lot of cool planets and asteroids and all sorts of stuff to explore in the Rojar system. If you want more information on that, I suggest you check out the Briefing Room and the Astrometrics Lab.

People on the ship seem to be taking this whole 'new solar system' thing pretty well in stride. They're more worried about the potential of Klingons, Romulan pirates, and the Borg. The Borg! Aaaaaah! *shakes himself out of it* Anyway, Chief says my job is to focus on the job, not whatever might go wrong outside the ship. So.

Nesh: Prepare to be assimilated, Thanis. I want your worm. *Moves arms robot style.*

Thanis: We docked at SB185 to connect with the USS Venture, and to pick up supplies, new crew members, and a four-man press team sent by the Federation News Network. Since then, we've just been flying from the starbase to the new solar system - clocking in at about Warp 6.

The shipboard departments are busy getting ready for the mission at Rojar:

In Engineering, we're working on improving ship efficiency and finding new power sources for the Galileo.
In Science, LT Cho, CIV Kramer (PhD), and LT Liyar are pulling together some new super-probes to help with the system exploration and everyone else is getting their labs in shipshape for the influx of... stuff... to study.
In Medical, they're preparing to look after the away teams and keeping their fingers crossed that their small staff will be able to handle anything that might come their way from the system. Also, LT Blake was named the new head of Counseling because LT Carlisle needed more time to devote to her actual medical practice.
In Security, CWO Kiwosk is still gathering members for his Tactical Response Team. That means he's getting crew members together who aren't in security to learn how to deal with emergency situations in case we get - you know - boarded by Klingons again or... oops. Wasn't supposed to say that. Well. No one's reading this in character anyway.
In Flight Control, they're getting ready to run the away teams down to the surfaces of moons and asteroids, which is really awesome.
In Support - I have no idea what they're doing as a department, actually. I know LT Liyar is doing something about Romulans, but there aren't any on the ship or nearby, so... Oh, I guess CMDR Coleman is doing some top secret thing because she's taking one of the shuttles away, but I haven't heard anything about what that is. Maybe Nesh knows.
In Operations... well, they're keeping the ship's secondary systems running - lights, air, consoles, that stuff. And doing a good job, too, or else I wouldn't be able to tell you any of this. They're also stealing all the good coffee. I'm not pointing fingers, just stating a fact. *sotto voce* Do not. Piss off. The vorta.

Nesh: He's got charming ears, though!

Thanis: ...Girls.

===Music Cue!===

Nesh: Alright, time for some character synopsis! This one's a long one, so sit back, and let me, your brilliant and effervescent host - see, totally learned a new word, I'm awesome - take you through the journey.

Alright, well, first up, we've got a new security chief. LT Jeremy Stone. He's, like, arrested a bunch of people. PO1 Keval Graysan, ENS Jared Nicholas, and CIV Ansen Pawlak. And CN Athlen, but that was last episode. LT Stone really likes arresting people. I think it's his hobby. When he's not arresting people, he's yelling at Captain Saalm, comforting LT Coleman, taking care of his new dog Sidious - we just call him Sidi - and threatening former Maquis members.

We've also got some new members of the press aboard for our latest mission as Thanis already mentioned. Raifi Zaren, Jool Fenta, Justin Baker and Trija Natyal. Jool is totally interested in the Galileo's last mission before Vega, and Raifi just wants to help all the Romulans. Trija is cranky. Jool is trying to eat Justin's soul. Raifi hit it off with CN Athlen and LT Liyar first, and the three are now all focused on this MS1 business. Raifi also hooked up with LT Maenad Panne, who seems completely oblivious to that eye right in the middle of his neck. What a girl!

Lirh-- Captain Saalm is also having a bit of a rough time, since she was rejected by LT Panne, presumably so LT Panne could stroke Raifi's spots - I hear they're sensitive. *winks at Thanis*

Thanis: Dermaglyphs. *wrinkles his nose at her* And ew.

Nesh: Right. Dermaglyphs - and play LT Liyar the piano. Captain Saalm is just beginning her regimen of pheromone inhibitors again, which, by the by, suck, just so you all know! They suck! But hopefully there will be no more, *ahem* late night rounds in the near future. Okay, what else. Oh, and she was also interviewed by the press! How exciting. I think she looks really great on camera. Just saying.

CWO Kiwosk, LT Pendleton, and LT Panne have also been interviewed by Jool Fenta. Ahhh, Jool Fenta... *dreamy sigh* Remember folks, if you want to be interviewed, contact Support or Trija Natyal directly!

CWO Cyrus Kiwosk has begun developing this, like, Tactical Response... Team, thing. So, if you're interested, drop him a line! It's mostly for enlisted personnel, but he's wiggling in some officers. Or, at least, trying. The team's basically, like, some kind of emergency thing. I dunno. He's also interested in organizing poker night, so, totally sign up, if you're interested. Word on the ship is that he and CMDR Ni Dhuinn also have a thing going on as well, ah, love is in the air! Oh, and last time I checked, right, CWO Kiwosk is also trying to help out LT Cho in training for physical fitness.

CMDR Evelyn Coleman is jacking a shuttle and heading toward El-Auria, or, the remnants of it. We wish her safe passage. The other intelligence officers WO Evan Kell, CN Siren Hex, and LT Amynta Markos are making sure everything is running smoothly and reporters don't get run astray and Romulans don't knock on our front door! Chaplain Thorne will be escorting the reporters about, so keep an eye for the entourage.

Me - Nesh Saalm *fans face, presses hand against chest*, and CNA Thanis Rothgra, yes, you, *pokes him* ate lots of fried foods and watched while the reporters went at it in the Mess.

Thanis: Best show on the ship at the moment.

Nesh: They're a funny bunch! Thanis's sister PO3 Kareel Gan also showed up - what? She did. And unsettled him, quite a lot! She's Joined now, so she's got the worm.

Thanis: Symbiont. Not worm. *grumbles* She didn't unsettle me, she just-

Nesh: I think I saw her standing on her head in the arboretum. And she's chasing the Vulcan around.

Speaking of Vulcans, LT Liyar and CMDR Coleman have recently uncovered what looks to be the beginning of a plot involving the Romulan Empire, although we can't say too much about that, since it's all quite hush-hush, and, like, they totally need to do more research before forming any solid opinions. Apparently, though, *sotto voice* they spotted a Vulcan science ship around Hobus two months before it went supernova!

LT Kestra Orexil, our former security chief, meanwhile, has just awoken from her coma with the help of her cousin Trija Natyal and LT Liyar. CMDR Ni Dhuinn and assorted medical personnel are doing what they can to ease her journey back to health!

ENS Lilou Peers is working on a way to get kinetic power to the ship. Which means, that we'll totally be powered by anything that hits us! Or something. She's also teaching CN Athlen Trill, and hiding in Jefferies tubes after Scary Marines talk to her. Fortunately, LT Liyar gave her brain a shiny happy and then she ran off to cuddle WO Lamar Darius, her *whisper* boyfriend. Anyway, after that, she built a Thing with a Thing - uh, translator, music, thingy. And built LT Panne a shuttle! And fell on people! And, LT Stone accused her of Bad Things like lying and I think he, just is perpetually having a bad day.

Thanis: *sighing* That was not the order of things at all.

Nesh: *ignoring him* In the meantime, LT Panne, CIV Kramer (PhD), LT Cho and LT Liyar have just finished building the modified type-4 probes, which will be deployed to Rojar soon and we'll get some neat, uh, telemetry, that's the word. That's the word. *clears throat* LT Cho is also working with - well, was working with, before he upset her, apparently he told her that no one would ever like her, which is like, totally mean! - LT Liyar on her P3 telepathic abilities which were discovered during our time on Vega IX. Whatever P3 means. LT Cho is seeing the new counselor LT Dawn Meridian, who is proving to be a rather interesting addition to our crew and is working on helping out many people as this ship has a lot of people in need of... help! Including LT Stone, LT Cho, and LT Liyar.

And finally we're ended with most of the senior staff since we've now arrived at the Rojar system, so stay tuned for more character developments as they happen!

===Music Cue!===

Nesh: And now we've moved onto the new arrivals aboard Galileo! Welcome to your new assignments! Emergency exits are located throughout the ship at various airlocks. Just in-case the insanity gets to be a little too much. ;)

In Playing Characters, we have two new'uns who've joined since the commencement of Frontier:

LTJG Andreus Kohl is a returning nurse practitioner who previously served for the Galileo's first mission and during half of re-supply. Andreus was promoted to LTJG and Assistant Chief Medical Officer shortly before his departure. An Argelian played by Brendan, Kohl is a fascinating character with a complex diplomatic history. And he's handsome, too!

LTJG Kestra Orexil, the Galileo's Betazoid former chief of security has returned to us, however she landed herself in a bit of a horrible coma, she should be coming around soon though. Kestra and Lilou go way back, although they don't appear to have kept that same comfort upon meeting again here. Kestra is played by Katrin.

Thanis: Neither of them are 'new' technically... they went away and came back...

Nesh: Shh!

In Non-Playing Characters we have several new faces!

Sidious MWD7223 "Sidi", our newest canine addition to the security department, Sidious is a Military Working Dog and his duties include protection work, apprehension, SAR operations and contraband detection. Sidi is played by Rabe.

PO3 Kareel Gan, a Joined Trill with four lifetimes worth of experience has recently been accepted on our crew in the engineering department. She's Thanis's sister! And I hear she's much friendlier now. Kareel is played by Phoebe.

SWO Sergei Petrov is a friendly, if rigidly organized and structured Russian fellow who is rather enamored by rocks. Mr. Petrov enjoys chasing LT Panne around, unfortunately she does not appear to enjoy him back. In fact, I think she would rather a rock fell on his head. Petrov is played by Mike.

CIV Benjamin Dale, Ph.D., a wily, rogueish Australian with very interesting hair. Dale is rude. There's really no other description for him. He enjoys tiny particles. And viruses. And chemicals of all sorts. We're all quite afraid that he's going to poison us in our sleep. (Okay, he's not that bad, but still.) Dale is played by Nelle.

CN Siren Hex, an intelligence officer with a past (well, don't they always), Siren grew up on Nyx, a colony that eventually became overrun by gang-violence and devolved into lawlessness. We're sure she has some fascinating stories to tell! Siren is played by J.

CN Bo Chalan, a Bajoran prylar turned enlisted medic, Bo grew up in a village called Klaven during the tail end of the Cardassian occupation, and spent most of his childhood working soil and helping to build infrastructure before joining the Bajoran religious order. He was vetted Ranjen and then Prylar before his enlistment to Starfleet. Bo is played by Nelle.

CN Jaeih, a half-Vulcan, half-Romulan officer (although you will only know her as a Vulcan!) who is LT Liyar's new lackey. Er. Protege. Jaeih transferred over to the Galileo from the USS Venture, seeking out LT Liyar for his work with the Romulan refugee camp in his home province on Vulcan. Officially, Jaeih is a diplomatic officer tasked with running various interferences between economic projections and legal services, to planetary system mapping for the official Federation database. Jaeih is played by Katrin.

CIV Lily Blake, Lily is LT Scarlet Blake's daughter, an insatiably curious four year old girl who enjoys dragons and holofilms. Lily is played by J.

The Mission VIPs are as follows:

MC Ray Fernandez, played by Matt M.
CAPT Sarah Sutherland, played by Sarah.
LT Tamara Riley, played by Cami.
LT James Barnes, played by Rabe.
LT Paul Langan, played by Mike.
CIV Trija Natyal, played by Phoebe.
CIV Jool Fenta, played by Rabe.
CIV Raifi Zaren, played by Nelle.
CIV Justin Baker, played by Paula.

Thanis: Just a heads up as well, the Nesh Saalm PNPC -

Nesh: - That's me! I know, I'm so wonderful -

Thanis: ... who was previously played by Tarishiana Barel, is now played by Phoebe.

Nesh: I now work as a Scientist's Mate in the Science department, and I'm living aboard the Galileo full-time! That's it for new players this month, so look in this spot next month to see who else has chosen to come live in our little insanity world.

===Music Cue!===

Thanis: That's it for everything that's happened so far. Now, what do we think will happen next? Any ideas, Nesh?

Nesh: SOBBING INTERNALLY. What if our fate is doomed?! What if there's the Borg, or crazy pirates? It's the Frontier! Mysterious and -

Thanis: *pats her shoulder and hands her fried pastries* Let's see. We've got new planets, so that means we're probably going to find... something... there. Right? There's also a lot of people being worried about the Borg *looks meaningfully at Nesh* - will our concerns bring them down upon us like bad karma? And then there's this whole Romulan thing LT Liyar, Crewman Athlen, CMDR Coleman, and the reporter keep talking about - that's probably going somewhere too. The kid and the dog, though... I don't know what they have in store for us.

Nesh: We might find aliens! That would be cool. They say there are two class-M moons, which means there's the potential for aliens, and there is at least the potential for plant and animal life, which we'll get to study in more detail. Alien animals! Alien plants! Pretty cool, if you ask me.

Thanis: Oh, right!! About that! So there's a team of players who are working on creatures and stuff for characters to find in their exploration of the moons/asteroids/etc. They are: Nelle (Lilou), Phoebe (Liyar), Sarah (Evelyn), and Matt (Kiri). And they have access to this whole list of descriptions and images and stuff. So if you're planning on going down there and you want some ideas about what you might find (and even some cool potentials for mini-plots and discoveries!), you should totally contact one of them and ask about it.

===Music Cue!===

Thanis: Okay! That's it for this edition of the Galileo Impulse. Check out the post tracking table below for the actual posts in chronological order! (Really it's only the posts from MD03 in chronological order, but there'll be more next time!) Click here: Post Tracking for MD03

Nesh: Remember, if you're a player on the SIM, you should totally submit articles and thoughts and stuff so we can add you in to this thing. Thanks for listening/reading! And just for your wonderful listening skills, I'll leave you with a little present. I'm Nesh Saalm (pNPC of Liyar) -

Thanis: And I'm Thanis Rothgra (NPC of Lilou Peers). We'll see you next time around... are those FERRETS?

END TRANSMISSION
